Hi @wowzielama

I study at UEA and really enjoy it! I have around 12 hours of face-to-face teaching split into lectures- where we are taught our content -and seminars, where we apply the content we have learned. There are lecture recordings we can catch up on which is great as well.

UEA has a pretty great reputation for its teaching and research and it is 21st in the Univesity League Table 2025. It's campus is beautiful and very large, right next to a beautiful lake, and there are good bus links into the city, or there is a music venue and bar on campus if you prefer.

There are is also a small shop and plenty of coffee shops on campus, I usually grab a drink before lectures or some snacks if I'm hungry. Me and my friends go into Norwich for places like Primark, Hollister, Apple Store, Bella Italia, Nandos... although there are lots of independent restaurants and shops that are amazing to visit.

UEA also has lots of clubs and societies for you to join and make friends. They do a clubs and societies fair in the first week with free taster sessions for the sports clubs, so you can try them out and make friends.

UEA also does trips to the beaches and around Norfolk, which is a beautiful place. My friend has just got a job in Bella Italia in the city (the buses run into the evenings and UEA has a nightbus if you're staying out late), but I work on campus as a Student Ambassador, so there are lots of ways to make money!

I hope this helps, but feel free to ask me any other questions if you have them 🙂

Hello @wowzielama

I have stayed at UEA for five years. I did my Bachelors in Economics with a Year Abroad and am now studying my Masters in Banking and Finance. In my Bachelors I had a mixture of online and face to face teaching depending on the year but in Masters for me it is all face to face teaching. Overall, I have had a really good mix of modules and in final year of undergraduate there was a lot of choice between Eco modules.

UEA has a good reputation in both Norwich and the surrounding area, specifically for research but also for the courses. There are some very highly regarded courses such as creative writing and environmental science and would be the first choice for many in the country. Other departments also hold a really good rep and are in the top 10 in the country for student experience and the course content, for example Economics.

The overall experience of being at UEA is really good, with being a campus university, there is a close community. As @UEA Rep Grace said, there are many societies to join from languages to sport or art, which is a great way to meet people. As part of my studies, I joined a few societies and also went on trips to the lake district which was great!

It is quite easy to find part-time work. The university hires students around campus for various roles. For example, catering, working in the SU shop or carrying out campus tours. Also, there are many part-time jobs in Norwich, working in retail or in hospitality. Also, another good option they have at UEA on many courses is a year in industry, which may be worth considering if you would like further work experience.

If you have any more questions please let me know 🙂
I hope this helps answer some of your questions.
