How can I know which exams I will need to do?

I'm new in England, I'm going to start Sixth Form in Manchester and I am going to course physics, chemistry, and biology. I have read about AQA exams, OCR A, and Edexcel A. How I know which one I will need to do?

Do you guys know about a summer work experience in the field of Medicine???

Your sixth form will tell you when you start. Or it might be on their website. I do AQA Biology and Chemistry so feel free to ask if you have any more questions!

It depends on what exam boards your 6th Form you're going to go to does.

How do you find these subjects? I am super hard-working and I study every day, that's good to pass these subjects with AAA, right? I need A*AA for uni.

Biology is a lot of content but really interesting. Chemistry has a lot of maths in it, so if you’re good at that, it will help a lot. As for studying, it really depends on how much you study every day and how effective your revision methods are, but I would say AAA is very achievable if you are dedicated to working hard from the beginning.

I am going to explain you, how is in my case. I am from Spain (so my English is not very well haha, I need to improve it).
Here in Spain, the A-level is equal to Bachillerato (as called in Spain) both two are 2 years.
The last year, I applied late to start Sixth Form in September 2024 because I wasn't sure about it.
So, currently, I am studying the Year 12 here in Spain (the content of physic, chemistry, and biology are very very very very similar, the difference is just the language hahaha). This September 2025 I would need to repeat the year 12, but this time in England. I prefer to repeat year 12 in UK to improve and dominate better the language. Here in Spain, I get excellent grades, just because I am super hard-working and study every single day.
Sorry for the long story hahahah

Don’t worry your English is great! I am actually also doing Spanish A Level so we are kind of the opposite of eachother. I wish you all the best with your A Levels and let me know if you have any more questions. Also I hope you don’t mind the advice, but seeing as you are trying to improve your English….we would say “my English is not very GOOD” instead of “my English is not very WELL”. Buena suerte .

The exam board should be in the Sixth Form prospectus of the schools you apply to.

Hey, so pretty much everyone else covered how to know which exam board your sixth form is following. But, in regards to summer work experience in medicine you can email or ask your local hospital/clinic if they have any in-person work experience available. Or, you may be able to search for online work experience (and this doesn't put you in a less competitive position as universities understand and still value it). For example, springpod has some medical related work experience programs, but I'm sure there's still many out there.
