Will Sheffield / Bath accept lower results?

I have been given high predicted grades and Id like to know if it is possible to recieve a grade or two lower than the offer? My offer in bath IB 36 points with 7 maths, 6 physics and Sheffield 38 points 6 maths, 6 physics. If I recieve any singular grade lower or amount of points lower can I still be accepted? (BSC mechanical engineering)

Mech at Bath is mega competitive and its exceptionally unlikely that they would accept 'below offer' grades in August. Is it less competitive at Sheffield - don't know.

Hi maja1305,
It is great to hear that you are interested in studying at Sheffield 🙂. If you have any specific questions regarding grades you can discuss this with the admissions service. Here is a website with some information on how to contact them: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/contact/prospective-students
I hope this helped,

Hi there!

Its lovely to hear you've received an offer from Bath!

Its very difficult to predict whether you'd still be accepted if you were a grade or two off. I think the admissions team 01225383019 are the best people who can advise you on that. I know that unis do sometimes accept a few near miss applicants but this is very course-dependent, and as mech is a very competitive course and so I cannot make any guarantees.

However, one thing I'd say is that your teachers have predicted you those high grades because they clearly see that you're a hardworking student capable of achieving them. So whilst its good to hear you weighing up your options, please have some self-belief. Keep up with your content, revise wisely and don't leave class with unanswered questions, and just do the best you can come the exams.

Hope this helps and wishing you the best of luck 🙂

For econ last year at bath, one of my friends got in with AAB instead of A*AA but I missed out with AAA (1 mark off my offer) so it really is complete luck if you do or not!

1) That was Econ not Mech.
2) Luck has nothing to do with it. Its a carefully considered process at all Unis, and you actually have no idea why your mate was accepted and you weren't - and we only have your say-so that this situation actually happened.
