Hey, so I'm trying to decide on my first year accom for ncl uni and would love to know what current students think about the locations of the different accoms. Like, is Park View and Marris annoying to get home from a night out, or is it an okay walk? Basically I just want to know students opinions on the best location for first year accom.

I recently graduated from Newcastle University and I found all accommodations to be walkable in first year. The city itself is quite small which makes commuting or walking much easier. I lived in Portland Green in first year so I had a 20 minute walk to the city, I would say that Park View and Marris House are a similar distance.
But, I ended up picking my accommodation based on preferences! I really wanted an en-suite bathroom so I did not mind a 25 minute walk to the Psychology school. If location is your top priority, all of the first year halls and student areas are well-located and connected to the city through the Metro or bus routes.
I hope this was helpful - If you have any other questions ask away!

Thanks, good to know that wherever I end up I won't have to walk too far. Also, I wanted to ask about getting home from a night out, do most people walk home? because I know taxis can be expensive, and metro/buses stop running at 12 ish. Is it okay to walk back at night and is that what most people do?

I found that because most student halls are in or close to the city centre, most students walked home typically in groups heading to the same halls or nearby ones. It is completely up to your comfort level - sometimes the nights were cold and my flatmates and I got taxis to avoid it!
I have found that getting taxis is pretty affordable - I typically paid £5-10 (rarely more than £15) and often split it amongst friends too! Mainly because you're not going to be a long drive away from the nightlife 😊.
