Warwick Maths TMUA & STEP requirement?

Can anyone please let me know if they have received a non-contextual offer for Maths at Warwick, where the offer states you must take the STEP test even though you have already sat TMUA?

On their entry requirements page, Warwick state you need to sit the TMUA OR STEP, not that you need to sit both. They still haven't said what the minimum threshold is for the TMUA.

I have heard (on here) that someone, who has sat the TMUA, has received an offer from Warwick, but part of the offer requirement is that they must sit the STEP paper too, because the minimum TMUA threshold of 5.5 wasn't met!?!

Please let me know if you've received a non-contextual offer like this from Warwick, and if so, what was your TMUA score.

Thanks!

So Warwick maths has set a TMUA threshold of 5.5? This is a touch higher than what I thought.

I don't know this for sure....it was what I'd read/heard from a student on this forum. Hence why I'm asking the question on here. I want to know if anyone else has had an offer like this.

On Warwicks Maths admissions entry criteria page, it still doesn't state what the minimum threshold for Pure Maths is, even though they will have all the scores back from the January tests and are sending out offers! I emailed their admissions last week asking for an update on the score and the response was this:
"Unfortunately, I am informed that the final threshold for TMUA scores has not yet been finalised so I’m sorry that I can’t confirm this for you at the moment."

I was thinking that the Step threshold would be around 5.0. Idk. Maybe I am wrong

I don’t know of anyone with such an offer this year but at the maths open day last year they definitely talked about this type of offer being a possibility

Really? OK. I don't recall them saying that at the open day day we went to last October. It definitely doesn't state anything on their admissions page either....and my son still hasn't heard whether he's got an offer.😬

We were there in June. They didn’t make a big deal of it, just mentioned in passing that they may make an offer subject to STEP for those that don’t make the TMUA threshold (but also said, a 2 in STEP was more challenging than a 6.5 - as it then was! - in TMUA). I don’t know how they can realistically expect any Yp to pick up STEP this late in the day though. I’m sorry you haven’t heard- the wait must be so stressful

To add …. they also told us at the time they were considering increasing the 6.5 TMUA threshold to a 7 but it hadn’t been decided at that stage. Obviously scoring has now changed but may explain why a 5 this year (equivalent to 6.5 last year) isn’t being used. No idea why they can’t publicly say what score they’ve decided though.

Thanks so much for all this info! Nothing mentioned at all at our open day visit about possibly increasing TMUA score to 7, or that STEP may be an additional requirement! Very frustrating that they can't (or won't) specify what the minimum threshold is for the TMUA. They must know as they're giving out offers already. My son scored 5.4, and is predicted 4 x A*. Trying to study for STEP at this late stage is impossible on top of his A Levels. What will be will be, but I'm not sure the way Warwick Maths department are going about this is great for their Maths applicants' mental health, that's for sure!🙄

I really feel for you and your YP. In every other year when they got their TMUA grade they more or less knew whether they were getting an offer. This year there’s so much uncertainty and Warwick hasn’t come out of it looking like they’re putting the students’ wellbeing first

Are you sure you are non-contextual? As their standard A-level offer is A*A* (Maths and FM) A

My daughter got 5.5 in the first TMUA round, is predicted A* in everything, and still has no offer from Warwick. Offers received from all other Unis she put down. Very stressful as Warwick would be her first choice

My son is in exactly the same situation! He got 5.4 in Oct sitting, predicted 4 A* (just sat his last set of mocks and all back as A*), he'll be a non-contextual offer. He's heard back from all his other Uni's too....Warwick will be his firm if he gets an offer! Really hoping we hear soon - it's driving us nuts, the not knowing. Haven't seen any students posting on here recently (or Reddit), with a Warwick maths offer (or even rejection). It looks like they've sent out a load of Law, and also Economics offers in the last 24hrs. Hopefully Maths will next! Good luck to your daughter - we feel your pain!😬

I've just got my offer today from Warwick. The offer doesn't say anything about TMUA or STEP but I got a score of 5.2 in TMUA so I assume 5.0 must be the required score.

My son finally got his offer on Saturday! (Whilst I was away in NYC!) No step requirement. Hope your daughter received hers?
