NTU or Oxford Brookes?

I’m a student in Y13 that wants to go uni and go into Paramedic Science. I originally wanted to go NTU but I they offered me an alternative course because my personal statement didn’t meet there “standards”. I have just received my offer for Oxford Brookes University and it’s really good for Paramedics. I’m not to sure on what to do. Should I do NTU clearing or accept my offer?

Omg Nottingham did the same thing to me too!! I’d say if you can definitely go to the offer holders day at Oxford Brooke’s so you can get a better insight/idea of the course and the uni itself. If you find that you really enjoyed Brookes then definitely go for it!! If not, it could be worth going for NTU through clearing.

Hi @eshamistry2406,

Thank you for reaching out 😊

Congratulations on receiving your offer from Oxford Brookes University for Paramedic Science! That’s a huge step towards your aim of becoming a paramedic.

At Oxford Brookes, our Paramedic Science programme is ranked 8th in the Guardian's Paramedic Science subject league rankings for 2025, and our degree is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This means that employers highly value your qualification. With excellent facilities, strong links to the NHS, and great support from tutors, the course is designed to provide you with hands on experience and prepare you for a rewarding career in paramedicine. You can also look forward to excellent opportunities for placements in a supportive environment.

If NTU is still your top choice, you could consider applying through Clearing. However, please bear in mind that course availability may be more limited during Clearing, and you may not always get your first choice. It’s worth researching what’s still available and weighing up the pros and cons once you receive your results.

It might also help to think about what you’re hoping to get out of your university experience. Is it the course at NTU that excites you the most, or is it the campus and city life? What about extracurricular activities? Consider what matters most to you and weigh the benefits of each option.

If there's anything you'd like to ask to help with your decision, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re more than happy to help!

Best wishes,

Clare
