I’m considering it but I feel it’s a bit of a risk as I dunno exactly how they score the GCSEs. Like how many GCSEs are counted and do you get more for a 9 vs an 8? Did they explain at the open day? I could not go.

They didn’t disclose the scoring at the open day. Well I at least couldn’t get any info on it. I’m going again in October so I may come back with some answers. All they said is that they look at everything together so being weak in a specific area shouldn’t impact you if everything else is strong. They also said GCSEs aren’t looked at after shortlisting for interview.

Yes just go. Lots of people who’ve booked may not end up turning up. Some may hopefully cancel their bookings just the day before

Per Leeds Uni website, cut-off last year was 2500/3600 which equates to 1850/2700 under new scoring.

Would gcses of 988887777 be considered too risky for leeds?

Reply 17

Any idea what was the last UCAT percentile for Birmingham Dental School last year?

Went to the open day, still not even home yet but i wanted to share what i was able to find out. Leeds rank u based on gcses, alevels and ucat score including sjt. They all have equal weighting. 50% academic (gcse and alevel). 50% ucat. They look at your top 6 gcses but also check ur english lang OR lit and check ur sciences but they don’t have to be in ur top 6 just have to meet the requirements. They do differentiate between 8s and 9s and the same goes for alevel predicteds. If you have a weaker ucat ur strong gcses can make up for it since it’s cumulative (said by admission head). PS isn’t scored but is looked at just to show motivation (ie ur not a med applicant with dent 5th choice).
