St Andrews

so i have applied to st andrews with grades AAABB end of S5 for international relations,
the entry requirements (minimum) are AABB and the standard is AAAAB,
for the course i am required to have a national 5 maths which i failed in S4 (got a D) but am retaking this year in S6
is there a chance of me getting in with a condition of needing nat 5 maths? or do unis not give conditions for national 5’s so i won’t get in?
i understand i may need to receive one or two more A’s but am unsure about the national 5, any help?

yeah unis do give out conditionals for nat 5s, might depend on what predicted grade your teachers put down though. i can't definitively say whether you'll get in or not - just gotta trust the process! hope it goes well. is there any chance you're eligible for contextual offers? and how do you feel about your personal statement? ultimately it's a competitive uni (with a really good IR course from what i've gleaned during my research on it myself, i'm starting in september), so i wouldn't hinge on the idea of getting accepted/rejected. just don't stress, things like this ALWAYS work out for the better no matter what (i applied for oxford, got interviewed, then rejected, and the next day i got my st andrew's offer. upon reflection i'm lowkey grateful that i'm not going there, but at first i was pretty devastated). just stay positive!

yeah i’m not 100% hopeful of getting in keeping me hopes down a lot as it’s a very competitive uni, i’m not eligible for contextual offers i don’t think and my personal statement i’m a bit iffy about, so that’s why im not counting on getting in, it would be great yes but more hoping for uni of edinburgh or aberdeen as i meet the proper requirements 😁

I think most courses have a requirement of n5 maths and english passes even if you don’t need it at higher etc
