What are you looking for in a university? What are the criteria which are important to you?

What are you currently studying (subject / qualification)? What grades are you hoping to achieve?

Try to think a little bit outside the box to find some work experience that is kind of linked rather than specifically. For example my daughter had an interest in forensic pathology at one point and (unsurprisingly!) couldn’t get work experience directly linked to this. However, she read books by forensic pathologists, did a week long pathology summer school (she got this by searching the name of a pathologist at our local, big teaching hospital and emailed asking for work experience. They said no to that, but did offer her a tour of the labs. When she went for that, they mentioned the summer school, so she immediately signed up) and she managed to get a ‘tour’ of the hospitals mortuary and a long one-on-one talk with the Chief Anatomical Pathology Technologist there, which was fascinating (again I think she searched the department and it’s lead and then emailed because she was doing an EPQ on a pathology related topic and she asked for information, at which point he invited her in to meet)

Think around the career/subject and try lots of different avenues (science research labs/ neurology department in hospitals/outreach support services etc) You might well get no response or rejections but you might also get some random opportunities too. Take whatever you can get as you don’t know where they might lead. Personally address emails if you can, be formal, polite, enthusiastic and attach a CV. Good luck

You don't need work experience.
Its an academic science degree.

The usual advice about your 5 UCAS choices is:
1 just above your predicted grades - 1 grade and not in a vital subject.
3 at your predicted grades - these are your most likely offers
1 choice with lower grades - this is your Insurance choice if things dont go to plan next August.

Look at course pages, check the 'entry requirements'.
What area of the country do you want to be in - or doesnt it matter.
Campus Uni, or City Centre?
Do the courses include any work experience or study abroad - these add enormously to your graduate CV.

Thisis the sort of research to do over the summer. And unless you intend applying to Oxford or Cambridge, you have until NEXT JANUARY to make these choices.
