Is Open University any good?

Does anyone knows if the Psychology BA Honours course from Open University is good? Cause I read the prospectus, and it was kinda vague. It says that it's online, and I can do it remotely, but in their prospectus they only state fees for UK residents, whilst I'm not a UK resident. And also, they didn't actually state the entry requirements, so idk if they let just anyone in or something. In addition, I'm not sure if the course is fully online or part of it is online. Anyways, any help is appreciated Xxx

It is entirely online. I do a literature degree with the open university and absolutely love it. There are no entry requirements, just a test online to see if you are ready. If you are not, you can do an access course.

Heyyy, appreciate you responding, I have another questions though how good do you think the quality of the curriculum is? And how difficult is the entry exam?

"There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
At The Open University we believe education should be open to all, so we provide a high-quality university education to anyone who wishes to realise their ambitions and fulfil their potential.
Even though there are no entry requirements, there are some skills that you'll need to succeed. If you're not quite ready for OU study we can guide you to resources that prepare you, many of which are free.
Answer a few quick questions to check whether you're ready for study success" from https://www.open.ac.uk/courses/psychology/degrees/bsc-psychology-q07 the "test" is free and you can do it straight away ,it asks if you have studied before etc. It is available abroad - just select "Change location" at the top of theis page https://www.open.ac.uk/courses/psychology/degrees/bsc-psychology-q07 Screenshot 2025-03-17 at 22.01.43.png

There are no entry requirements, and as such the material starts off relatively easy as to get everyone up to a decent ability to tackle stage 2 material, which is where things will pick up more in difficulty.

You can seek out old OU material if you want to have a look at the type of material you will be provided with:
Introducing the social sciences (DD101)
Discovering psychology (DSE141)
(^ 2 examples of legacy stage 1 books from 2010's version of the BA Psychology)

As per if it is good or not - I think it depends on the individual, but for me personally I have really enjoyed my time with the OU (BSc Physics)

I am not sure about this course specifically, but i just completed my biology degree with them, and this has allowed me the opportunity to be accepted to study my masters at the University of Sheffield. It was all online, with my course also involving field work (and optional field trips with classmates previously but covid stopped these for me). I learnt a lot and found the teaching standard high. Tutors were helpful and contact between me and the uni was fast and reliable. They do online meetings which I found informative and interactive. The entry requirements are usually none, however I think for a couple courses this may be different. But if it doesn't state any, I would take this as there are none, this is why it is named the open university, as it is open to everybody. I did not have a science background past my GCSE's. They accept international students, there was people from all around the world on my course. I am unsure why this course is not showing the international fees, i would suggest contacting the university.
The quality of the courses at the OU are high - don't let the fact that there's no entry requirements put you off. They have a high dropout rate, of course, because often people start a course and believe that it's going to be easy and that they are capable of completing it when actually they aren't. The reason there's no entry requirements is just because the OU believes that everyone deserves to have the opportunity to try.
