history coursework help!

okay so ive been writing my history coursework since like november and i gave in my first draft after xmas. my teacher said that i was going along the right lines but my argument needs to drive the essay forward. i tried to fix this, but im also really confused on how to include the historians and my teacher is being really criptic so shes not helping that much. I showed my sister, who got 40/40 on hers 2 years ago (same exam board but different school) and she said that it was very good, and that hers had a similar structure etc. I dont know what to do as I'm really confused by what my teacher wants from me. i dont get how she wants me to have my argument drive the essay forward but then also use the hsitorians. I saw her again today, having given a copy like a week ago, and she said that i use too much historians and their argument

my coursework is for ocr btw and im doing it on: assess the view that the failures of Louis XVI were the most significant causes of the 1789 french revolution. my factors are: class struggles+taxation, the failures of Louis XVI (financial, political, and personal), economic hardships, and the enlightenment.

if anyone could just give me more tips etc, my coursework is due in 10 days and my teacher gave me a dealine of monday the 17th to have another draft for her to look at.

thank you

It can be a challenge to get the correct “voice” for the coursework, it is very particular.

My understanding is that you say at the start:

“it can be said that the FR was triggered by the war in America (whatever) but I will argue that it was Louis’ failings that were the cause.

Historian 1 makes an excellent case for this view and here is how I evaluated it

Historian 2 makes a poor case for this view and here is why I evaluate it this way

The whole essay is about your view. Everything you out in the essay is to support your view of the question (not the historian’s view or primary source view…the thread all the way through is about only your view)
