Is royal Holloway a good university

Hey everyone, right now I’m in year 12 I was wondering if royal Holloway was worth applying to. I honestly just love the way the campus looks but the academic side I’m unsure of, also the fact it’s in a random town seems like it isn’t a very social place.

RHUL is OK. To use the modern idiom, it's mid. Egham is a boring commuter town, but it's not far from London. If you are predicted to obtain high grades, you could do better elsewhere, and could select RHUL as an insurance choice.

Re: academic reputation/standing, it varies from dept to dept. It's a renowned dept within the UK for my subject (music) but that doesn't mean that's true across the board for all subjects. So it's worth doing some research and visiting on open days, if you haven't done so already.

PS. I'm guessing that what you mean by "the way the campus looks", you mean the Founder's (red brick) building? Just be aware (in case you've not done a campus tour yet) that the rest of the campus doesn't look like that! :nah:

It's a very special, aesthetically-pleasing building but the rest of the campus doesn't match it, sadly :moon:

In terms of nightlife, there are some good spots right on your doorstep in Egham including, our thriving Students’ Union. Our SU venue is very popular and hosts different club nights every week, You can find out more here: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/student-life/being-a-student/students-union/.

Not only that, but you are also within easy reach of a few other places with a big student nightlife in Windsor and Kingston.
