Postgraduate funding eligibility

Hi,

I'm planning to start an MSc in London this September 2025. I moved to england in the summer of 2024, after living in Scotland for 14 years. I'm an EU national with settled status.

I'm confused and concerned about the eligibility criteria for funding. One of the criteria is to "normally live in England". Would I meet this requirement or is normally defined as having lived for 3 years prior to my degree starting?

SAAS in Scotland have a similar requirement, whereby you need to be an ordinary resident in Scotland - I'm not sure if having moved to England disqualifies me.

Hi marsvolta7,

Did you move to England for the purpose of study?

Thanks, Clare

Hi Clare,

No, it was a personal choice to move - I wasn't considering studying the MSc here at the time.

Thanks

Hi there,

If you have not moved to England for the purpose of study then you should be eligible to apply to Student Finance England.

Thanks, Drew
