Advice Needed: Choosing a Natural Sciences Program in the UK & Student Funding

Hi everyone,

I’m a high school student from Italy, and I’m planning to study Natural Sciences (focused on Biology and Psychology) in the UK. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive an offer from Cambridge, but I still have three great options:

King’s College London
Durham University
The University of Nottingham
I have two main questions:

Are there any student funding opportunities available for EU students? It seems that many previous funding options were closed after Brexit.
Which of these three universities would be the best fit for my academic interests in Biology and Psychology?
I’d really appreciate any insights or advice from current students or alumni. Thanks in advance!

Hiya,

Durham does have a few funding opportunities, you can have a look at them here and here as well as here. In terms of which is best for Bio and Psychology, I unfortuneatly can't help with as I don't study either subject but you can speak to students and alumni who have/are on Unibuddy Unibuddy Chat with a student from Durham University - Durham University and they may be able to help you out with your second question 🙂

Hope this helps!

I am not an expert but if you are looking for funding, it’s probably best to avoid London unis due to cost of living. I’d suggest Durham or Nottingham.

I am student studying Natural Sciences at Kings, DM me if you want more information about this degree. But to let you know briefly, I am considering dropping out.

Hi @amymars!

I am an EU student enrolled at University of Nottingham. Unfortunately, things have changed substantially after Brexit and now EU students are classed as 'overseas' students unless they have been granted 'Pre-Settled', 'Settled Status' or a 'Migrant Worker Status'. Therefore, you may need to seek alternative funding opportunities.

There is more information here should you need it: EU Students & Scholarships and Funding for International Students.

I hope it helps,
Abian.
