Not sure where best place to post this is but small dilemma.
I am attending the partners pass summer school and Newcastle say that “students will be allocated to a single gender flat where possible and are expected to stay within their own flats and communal areas whilst in residence”
I am female but would class myself as a “tomboy” and would much rather share accommodation with a mix or with boys only, mostly for the social aspect as I am unsure from the quoted information if in the evenings people will be allowed in each others accommodation to socialise.
Do you think it is worth emailing the uni to ask or do I just suck it up and not stir up an issue?

If youve not filled out the form for accommodation yet they said you can specifiy any issues with the whole arrangement on question 13 and 14 (i think) but if you already have filled it outyou should email the partners team bc we're going to be staying there almost 3 days you should feel comfortable! And its better to try at least

I’ve had a similar problem! I would be much more comfortable in mixed accommodations than single-gender. What I did is I specified this on the accommodation form in the area where you can specify and issue. I’m hoping that they will be receptive to this and let me be in a mixed gender flat because I’ll be much more comfortable there.

Hi @Anonymous #1

We would suggest contacting the PARTNERS team about this directly. You can contact the team via [email protected] if you have already completed your accommodation form, including your UCAS ID number and full name.

I hope this helps
Lydia
