How many days do you do in the community as part of the course?

Good morning :smile:

I've received a response back from the programme leader:

Students work an average of 25 hours in practice during each placement week. This is a full time course and the other 2 days during each placement week are for reading/directed activities/theory hours.

Students in year 1 spend approximately 10 weeks in community.
Students in year 2 spend approximately 6 weeks in community.
Students in year 3 spend approximately 10 weeks in community.

The shift pattern on community depends on the trust the student is working in. In Airedale and Harrogate community midwives work 8-hour days, in Bradford community midwives work 10-hour days. Students will follow the working pattern of their Practice Supervisors on community.

HI, no it isn't at all.

I'm based in Bradford and my community team is 9-10 hours on average.
Hospital placements are 2 x 12.5 hour shifts.

Hi, second year here. I can't tell you how many days in total but you do roughly 8 weeks (give or take) in the community as a first year. These weeks you will do 3 days in total.
