Home or International Tuition Fees??

Hello there,

I am a UK citizen but I have lived in Australia my whole life and want to study an undergraduate degree in England. I was under the understanding that because I'm a citizen, I would be granted home student status and may eligible for either a full (tuition and maintenance) or partial loan (tuition only), as inferred by the 'undergraduate student finance checker' under the subheading of 'if you have a different nationality or you live outside the UK' on the student loans company website. This gave me the impression that I would be most likely to get the partial loan being a British citizen, but not the full loan because I don't meet the three-year residency rule.

I then submitted my application through UCAS and entered my Australian address as my permanent home, but put SLC as my main source of funding. My application still went through and I ended up getting my offers back, and I accepted one of them already. Why was this not picked up on when I submitted my application? Is there a way to tell whether my offer is of home or international status?

Basically, I just hope to clarify whether I'm meant to be paying home or international tuition fees, as I have found contradictory information everywhere I've looked.

Thanks

Your offer emails from each uni should specify whether they’ve assessed you as a home or international fees payer.

Hi mollysianj,

We can only confirm eligibility for SFE support. If you wish to know what your university is charging for your fees, you would need to contact them directly to query this.

Thanks, Clare
