Nottingham Economics BSc

Hello, I’m just wondering what people’s thoughts on economics lectures / post lecture info are in Nottingham, and how engaging the course is? I’ve been to Sheffield offer holder day and all the lecturers seemed very enthusiastic, whereas in unis such as York and Newcastle, not so much. Any help would be appreciated

Have you checked the results of the National Student Survey, as published on The Uni Guide. You can see their results for Economics at University of Nottingham at here, with a couple of relevant extracts below.

The only the way to find this out is to visit the university on an open day to get a real sense of the place and department. Even that won't provide you with what it'll actually be like on the course though.

The problem with asking for other people's views or using stats like the poster above is that different people have very different standards. Two people could receive the exact same standard of lectures and post-lecture info, but one could think it was great while another could think it was sub-par. Would this imply that it was great/sub-par/or the average of the two, who knows!

At the end of the day, the best thing you can do is visit the place for yourself, see what courses have modules you think sound interesting, and try to do your own research on whether the course is respected in the sort of careers with which you're currently thinking about aiming for. With that said, Nottingham's economics department is very good. Personally, I would put it below the likes of Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, and Warwick, but on par with the likes of Bristol, Bath, Durham, Edinburgh.
