HELP! IM IN THE EXACT SAME SITUATION AS YOU! Get a tweezer. Don’t EXCESSIVELY pluck, but daily. Just a few hairs so she doesn’t pick up suddenly. That’s what I do. I pluck my facial hair above my lips and my unibrow. It’s still sorta there, but honestly no one knows unless you go reallyyy close. (Which no one will ofc).

Get electrolysis. It’s permanent and targets the individual hair.

YOU CAN THREAD! I have threaded my upper lip and for the first time it got really red. And it hurts a bit:’) but because ive already threaded it, most of the hair was gone, so i started plucking the parts that would come back. Threading is also super easy btw, so i would recommend (unless your mum is really observant. My mum is pakistani too and she notices EVERYTHING, so i would just be careful!)

NOPE! Mine doesn’t! It doesn’t really come back and if it does, it’s either the same or just really light and it’s only really noticeable around the curves of your lips. (but not thick noticeable)! So i would definitely suggest threading first and then plucking as it keeps coming back or just threading only! (Do NOT wax it tho, my friend waxed hers once and her upper lip was red for a week. she probably used the wrong wax strip tho)

If it’s hormonal do not remove the hair by the root. That includes waxing plucking or threading. I have 25+ years of experience with this.
Electrolysis is your best option.
For laser or plz research paradoxical hypertrichosis.
If you have PCOS only have electrolysis

yeah, thats the only downside of threading! it hurts SO MUCH, but it doesnt grow back that quickly! i honestly wouldnt suggest shaving it (ive never shaved it). threading and plucking are the only ones ive done and they’ve worked perfectly for me! you could get laser down later in life for your upper lip and other parts! (im hoping to get my arms and legs done cause being pakistani comes with a lot of hairy arms for me..)

I'm a pakistani guy and my parents were against me getting rid of my monobrow but one night I just did it and now it's been almost 2 years and they still haven't noticed so I reckon you'll be fine if you remove the hair you want to remove but if you want to play it safe then remove a little at a time.

Oh, I feel you! 😩 First off, let’s clear the myth, hair does not grow back thicker or darker after removal; that’s just a misconception! ♀️ What you’re experiencing is totally normal for your age, especially with South Asian genetics (we’re blessed with lush hair everywhere, right? 😅). Since your mum’s hesitant, maybe try having an open convo with her about how it affects your confidence, sometimes framing it as self-care helps! 💬✨ If she’s still firm, you could explore subtle options like trimming (with her permission) or using a small facial razor carefully to manage the hair without her noticing. Just remember, skincare is key—always cleanse and moisturize after! 🧼💧 And hey, if all else fails, maybe enlist an auntie or older cousin to back you up, sometimes a little cultural diplomacy goes a long way! 🙌💖

Omggg same. But like if she does it then maybe clean her razor and use it, or if u get pocket money js like buy some discreet stuff, like threads I mean threading is pretty easy, and twizers r what I use like js pick out some so it’s rly discreet cuz I have a Bangalore mum and trust me I relate lol

just wanna say i completely get it. in fact from what you’re describing, my hair is a lot worse than yours. i’m just so sorry your mum doesn’t understand. this **** affects our self esteem so much.im so upset for you and i hope you don’t feel too embarrassed and resentful about having the hair and not being able to remove it. honesyly **** it and just shave small sections here and there like maybe your upper lip one day and next day pluck your monobrow or smth. what’s she gonna do? grow it back? sorrh i jist really sympathise witj your situation and i know your mum is just worried about you which is fair enough but this is just so so silly and i can’t believe there are still some arab and brown parents who deny their kids sometning as simple as ******* hair removal and for what?????? i’m just sorry.
hope it gets sorted
