Can I go from a 5 to a 7 in Spanish

If it helps I don’t know grammar well enough
If you told me to recite past tense or future tense from memory I’d be lost

Hey! I’m currently studying Spanish A level and I got a 9 at gcse. What I would recommend is to really focus on grammar as it is essentially the basis of the subject. For this I reallyyyy recommend sitting down and just choosing one verb from each infinitive ending (ar,ir,er) and remembering that in your head to refer back to. Another thing you could do is make a list of all the irregular verbs that don’t quite follow the rules like all the other ones and sadly for these you’ll just have to memorise the ending. For practicing tenses I reallyyyy recommend ConjuGato it’s an app and also I use Conjuguemos even now!! Can I ask what exam board you are taking and also how do you feel with the individual skills aka speaking, listening etc so I could maybe help you more specifically for tips in that regard if you’d like!! Good luck!

Thank you I’ll check those apps out!
+ I take aqa
I think my best is speaking and then writing
However reading and listening I both find difficult.

I took edexcel so I’m not sure on the specifics of Aqa but the general tips will help you anyway I hope! For reading I would just simply do as many past papers as you can and pick up on your repeated mistakes- for this I’d search up YouTube videos and maybe try and find reading paper walkthroughs. For listening, my tip sounds silly but really listening to music helped me more than I ever thought it would. You can pick songs in Spanish in the genre that you’d usually listen to in English and instead of revision it just feels like enjoyment- ontop of this you’ll hear native phrases that you can use in your writing to get better marks so I really recommend looking over the lyrics and seeing if there’s anything you can use in general. I use astarspanish’s youtube videos to revise for my a level work but they also do great videos for gcse and I’ll link the playlist below if you want to check it out 😊😊

If you have any more questions please ask!

ok so for the tenses, go on youtube and search up tenses songs they really helped me to memorise the tense endings. there’s a really good past tense endings one which is a remix of tik tok by kesha and there are other catchy ones too that help you to learn. for writing, memorise some spanish idioms and add 2 or 3 in the writing. also since you struggle with tenses but want a 7, make sure to use past, present and future tense at least - you don’t really have to use the complex ones if you don’t want an 8 or 9. if you want to impress the examiner, you could say things like me gustaría which means i would like instead of saying quiero all the time. also say things like my mum thinks or my dad thinks instead of saying i think as this gives multiple interpretations. (just memorise mi madre piensa que if you want to say my mum thinks.) for general speaking, record yourself saying the questions and practice replying aloud to yourself. for photocard, use the PALM structure (person, action, location, mood) to write your description of the photo. remember in role play the your answers don’t have to be long as you are talking with the examiner like a friend. just remember if it says one detail, you only need one to get the mark so don’t elaborate more or you’ll run out of time. for reading just keep practicing vocab, and for listening listen to spanish songs and try to understand as much as you can and watch spanish shows with eng subtitles! hope this helps
