A Level Science with combined GCSE?

So I’m in year 11 and chose combined science GCSE and I’m predicting I’ll get at least a 98 in my GCSE as this is what I got in my mocks.
I’ve never considered science before and I’m a very essay subject person but now I’m thinking of taking biology A level, would this be too difficult having done combined?
I think there’s a few topics that come up at A level that are studied in separate science that aren’t at GCSE so I’m concerned I’ll be behind.
I might take psychology to get a mix of science and essay but I’m just so unsure right now

So if anyone who has taken a science A level having done combined could let me know if you felt behind that would be great.

Thank you ☺️

hi! so i’m also in year 11 but i have a friend who did combined gcse and did bio a level! she told me she doesn’t feel like she is behind at all! especially as you are predicted a 98 because she recommends to only choose science a-level if you are a 6-6 and above! she says that she has other combined classmates in her a-level class, so i’m sure you won’t be the only one who had done combined? also, the extra stuff that triple students learnt will be taught in the a-level to the whole class - so you won’t miss out on what triples learnt, they will just get a recap while you learn new content. overall, if you really have a passion for biology, you should do it! she said you have to be really motivated and interested in it if you want to do it! (but with your predicted i think you are more than capable!) good luck and i hope this helps!! 💗

I rnemeber having this same concern but I achieved a B in chem and bio a level. I achieved 9-8 in combined science and honestly you won’t be disadvantaged in anyway because the content is very different xx I loved psychology but I would recommend only choosing biology if you’re really passionate in it / it’s necessary for what you want to do after A-levels e.g. med/dental because it’s very content heavy & time consuming xx

You should be fine 🙂 you could always self-study the triple biology and chem topics over the summer- the CGP headstart to a level biology might help but doesn’t cover all the content i dont think

Hi.
It's perfectly normal to do combined science GCSE and then A Levels in science.
I got a 9-9 at GCSE and then AA in Biology and Chemistry A Levels. There was no time where I was disadvantaged because I did combined. Not all schools offer triple, so they will teach from a combined level.
I bought the books from CGP to do the head start to A Level Chemistry. I looked in them once over the summer and did nothing.
You don't need to. The only thing that might have helped was understanding the mole calculations because I struggled with them at GCSE. However, that had nothing to do with combined Vs triple as they both have the moles calculations in them.
