Lancaster or sheffield for econ

which uni is better?
Hi @uphill-voltage

While I don't do economics at uni, I do currently study at Lancaster Uni. For economics Lancaster Uni is top 15 in the uni League tables and 9th for graduate prospects in The Guardian University Guide (2025)! We also offer placement and study abroad years if those interest you. You can talk to a current Economics student here https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/study/chat/?popcardRedirectData=P2RlZ3JlZT01ZGRiZGFjM2I2MTczMTAyMWE4OTJhODYmbGFiZWw9RWNvbm9taWNz&ub_medium=product&ub_source=University%20Popcard&ub_campaign=&ub_content= if you would like to find out more about the curriculum.
As for the uni itself and student life, I really enjoy it! There's many societies to get involved in and people are generally quite friendly

A big difference between Lancaster and Sheffield Uni is that Lancaster is a campus uni whereas Sheffield is a city uni. If you prefer everything in one place and less chaos in terms of getting to lectures, I'd recommend Lancaster. But if you like a city feel and don't mind the travel between different uni buildings, Sheffield might be a better choice. Have a think about it, I'd also definitely recommend going to open days to see the unis themselves as it gives you a feel of the uni.

Hope that helps,
Rachel - Lancaster University Student Ambassador
