What technology for uni?

What technology is best/essential for university (i.e. laptops, iPads...)? Particularly a psychology degree, if that makes any difference. Thanks.
I don’t do psychology but I’d say that having a good quality working computer is pretty essential. And a smartphone of course.

You will be using SPSS or R Studio, you will need a laptop or macbook.

Mobile phone. Android, sub £200 new Chinese phones are fine. You can go for the cheapest SIM deal with low data limits and use free wi-fi in your halls and uni campus and trains, pubs, cafes etc.

Laptop. Get the right size for you. Buy a used premium business laptop. The sweet spot for exactly what's best to buy changes over time. Right now HP 840 G8's and 845 G7's are the sweet spots for 14". With ebay generally offering the best deals. For other sizes I'd have to look into what's the current sweet spot.
Linux with KDE Plasma is a few steps above Windows for reliability, good default settings, ease of customisation, being a faithful servant to you instead of you being a servant to it.

A tablet eg ipad is a fine supplement to the laptop for scribbling notes on top of the handouts in lectures.

Thank you! I'll definitely look into all of that!
