Bristol Vet

I am currently an applicant for the 2026 entry to Bristol’s 5-year Veterinary Science course and have been placed on hold. I’ve heard that securing a place for people taking a gap year can be more competitive, and since Bristol is my top choice, I was really hoping to get in this cycle rather than going through the process again next year.
Would anyone recommend changing my application to the 2025 entry instead?
Thanks

The deadline for applications to Veterinary Science courses starting in September 2025 was 15 October 2024. If you try to switch your deferred 2026 application to a non-deferred 2025 one, you'll almost certainly be told that you've missed the deadline by a few months. :frown:

Bristol state that they are more than happy for applicants to ask for a deferred place and that it in no way affects your chance of an offer. This year’s application cycle has been very drawn out compared to the last few years, especially concerning Bristol applicants. There doesn’t seem to have been any major batches of offers, rather they are trickling out one by one which is probably making you a bit anxious, but hang in there. You will soon find out one way or the other, but I very much doubt that your start date will be the deciding factor in whether they make you an offer or not.

Does anyone have any idea when Bristol will start giving out offers? The stress is killing me. 😬

hi! I applied to Bristol last year for a deferred offer (2026 entry) in October 2024(before oxbridge deadline), and was put on hold for almost a whole month then got my offer on 27th Nov 2024. it should be soon if you applied early! bear in mind that I applied for aero engineering, I've heard some humanities courses had to wait until january + mech engineering in almost may... I'd say it differs for courses but good luck!!
