UClan med offer

Hi, I'm an international student and I just received a conditional offer from UCLan for the 5-year medicine programme. I would like to know more about the course and the university, and any reviews from graduates about the teaching there. Any help will be appreciated!

You can find more about the course here and about the life at the university generally here.

In terms of graduate reviews, see the information from the National Student Survey (which surveys final year students every year) as published on The Uni Guide here (and below).

Hi @bsbp2,

Congratulations on your offer to study medicine with us! 🎉 You must be so pleased 😊

I can see that links to our course pages have been shared and I'd definitely recommend having a look at these to learn more about the course and our university. If you do have any specific questions at all, I'd be happy to help. We also have an official offer holders thread for 2025 where you can post and hopefully find other offer holders.

All the best and we hope to welcome you onto campus later this year!

Hi there!

I'm one of the current 5th years MBBS at UCLan and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!

In terms of teaching, it is a spiral curriculum meaning you cover the same topics each year but build on them. In Years 1 and 2, you cover lots of the science content and this is all taught by doctors (both PhD and medical) ! In 3,4 and 5 there is a lot more of a practical element as you spend a lot of time on placement!

If there is anything else you want to know, please let me know!

Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for this! Also, I was wondering what is the general deadline to accept the conditional offer?

Hi @bsbp2,

Thanks for your question. There are deadlines separately for UCAS which you should have been made aware of but if you have sent us a direct application then the last possible date you can pay your deposit is 17 August 2025. We would recommend you accept your offer as early as possible in order to secure a place.

If you do have any questions at all, you can get in touch with our international admissions team directly by emailing [email protected]

For home MBBS offer holders, the UCAS Deadline for accepting offers is the 4th of June 2025.

Best wishes,
Sarah

Hi, I had a question regarding the foundation year placements post-MBBS. Are these placements compulsory? And do we have to look for them on our own, or does the university automatically provide placements to the students?

Hi there,

All placements that are part of your degree will be arranged by the university!

Hi bsbp2! I’ve just found this thread as my son has applied to UCLAN too through UCAS extra (he’s still determined to get as far away from Australia as possible!!). Nice to see you here and congrats on the offer - I’ve heard really great things about UCLAN.
