medicine application process exams and work experience

Hi im looking to apply to graduate medicine this october and have been studying for the ucat and gamsat but im feeling massive burn out and i think the whole process is causing me slight crash out especially on top of my end of year uni exams and assignments.i also feel like im not improving ucat wise whenever im practising and looking back, how is everyone practising?what sources are more accurate compared to the actual gamsat and ucat?im also doing both exams as a first timer doesnt help im doing the september sitting for gamsat hence may need to apply blindly as results are released in november :/

irrelevant question: why is it so hard finding clinical work experience especially in houses feel like i am getting instant rejections

Worst comes to worst, if you can't find any work experienced at all, there are always online ones that are respected just the same as normal ones (they have to do this because work experience is harder to find after covid). Brighton and Sussex Medical School has a good one for free and there are other paid ones (but you don't have to buy these to succeed).

You shouldn't be studying for the ucat yet, it will cause massive burn-out as you mentioned. Wait until 6-8 weeks before your test dates (maybe wait until the summer holidays of your course) and then start studying.
I can't advise much about the gamsat because I don't know much about it, but I'd assume its relatively the same.
If you just repeat ucat questions over and over, you will quickly hit your limit and your scores won't improve any higher so I'd recommend after a mock, you look over what you got wrong and try to improve on it, it will help your scores a lot.

Best of luck!

Focus on your assignments. Start revising UCAT after your exams.

Hey @saix0204

For work experience, I would try the education departments of your local hospitals! They often have pre-set processes and routes to get some work experience so this is probably your best bet!
Even with a few rejections for work experience I wouldn't give up!

I hope this helps,
