Consider the following for each uni:

What did you think of the department when you visited?
Will you get your own workspace/storage, what equipment is provided in terms of drawing boards, pcs, etc., are the workshops staffed and when?
Do you get the chance to go overseas?
What links do they have with local and/or national architecture practices?
What are staff specialisms/research interests?
What is the standard of the work produced for the end-of-year degree shows?
What are accommodation and travel costs for all years of the degree?
Which city can you see yourself living in?

Some useful things to consider, thank you! I'm due to attend some offer holder days this month and in April, so hopefully they will help me to decide.
Coventry University don't have a comprehensive list of staff for architecture on their website, which is a shame... unless I'm searching wrong.

Hello there,
May I highly recommend Coventry University. We have an excellent architecture course that will provide you with all the software, hardware, skills and knowledge you will need to graduate and get a work experience placement or job. The course is led by a team of lecturers with real world industry experience so they can pass on valuable knowledge. If you haven't already may i advise you book onto an open day/offer holder day with your course here at Coventry so you can see what the classrooms and facilities are like and get to speak to the lecturers.

Hi Dan,
Thank you for the recommendation 🙂 are you an architecture student yourself by any chance? & Do you know where I might be able to get my hands on a list of all the architecture school's staff?
I have already booked offer holder days for all 3 universities, so can't wait to see what I can discover!

Hi @Black1vy

I am a 2nd year at BCU, however I do not study Architecture.

Some of the reasons I chose BCU are:

There are lots of good study spaces, including social areas, quiet areas and silent study spaces.

The city centre campus is right in the city, which makes it great for exploring Birmingham and easy to get around by public transport.

There are lots of options for student accomodation, including some that are just a short walk away from campus!

I also considered subject specific things, such as what facilities there were for my course, how I would be assessed, and the modules that are taught.

Hope this helps!

Sophie.

Hi @Black1vy,

Congratulations on receiving offers from three great universities 🎉 Choosing where to study is a big decision, so here’s some points you may wish to consider:

Oxford Brookes is ranked in the top 10 UK universities for Architecture & Built Environment. With a strong focus on industry connections, hands-on learning, and live projects, you'll get to build a professional network and take part in paid work placements with global firms. Additionally, the city of Oxford itself offers a mix of culture, green spaces, and vibrant student life, with easy access to London (and beyond).

At Brookes, you'll enjoy small, focused classes (around 22 students) and spend two days per week in design studio tutorials. Our graduates go on to work at top firms like Norman Foster + Partners and Kengo Kuma & Associates, and some even design virtual cities for the gaming and film industries. The possibilities are endless! You can Watch our School of Architecture Employability video here.

Oxford is also a fantastic city for students, with plenty to do and see, along with great transport links. If you're someone who wants to make industry connections while studying in an exciting city, Oxford Brookes could be a perfect fit.

I do hope that this helps! Best of luck with your decision and let us know your thoughts below ☺️

Best wishes,

Clare
