nottingham or sheffield for philosophy

i received all my offers a while ago and have narrowed it down to nottingham or sheffield with york as insurance
they have the same requirements (AAB) and i love both courses and im pretty sure their reputations fairly similar

sheffield has a few more unique modules than notts and i have no doubts that i'll be able to have a good social life and feel comfortable in sheffield. its known for its openness and the city loves the arts and overall it seems more like me.

but sheffield is a city campus and i prefer campus based unis - sheffield's seems fairly small but i'm not sure if i'm right in thinking that??
i love nottingham's campus and its sports facilities seem better, but the student body mostly don't seem like my kind of people? i'm sure i'd be able to find people more like me through societies and lectures and such but is it worth the risk?

also i want to go for self-catered accommodation while nottingham university park campus is really catered-accommodation centred

overall i think i'm leaning towards sheffield but i want to make sure i'm making the right decision there (my dad's fairly convinced that nottingham would be better because of its reputation but i can convince him towards sheffield)

anyway i'm asking for any advice or info on either uni? 😔❤️
sorry this was long
thanks

I would stick with Sheffield. I recently left Nottingham due to the issues with the accommodation system and the societies there

You will probably be invited to Offer Holder visit days - a good opportunity to have a more critical look around, and talk to current students about what they like about being there. If you live near enough, you dont even have to wait for that - you could go and walk around each campus, and each city. And there are campus tour and tourist films on YouTube if you can't manage that.

Hi! I’ve recently been given an offer for PPE at Notts - what were the issues with accommodation/societies if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks🙏

I studied at Nottingham a long time ago, but l keep abreast of what goes on at the uni through YouTube and their website. What l would say is that the student body l experienced was a bit hyper, loud and party going. But that was in university halls. In self-catered accommodation things are more relaxed and quieter.

If one is after a studious student body, it is best to go to a London university like LSE, UCL, or KCL. Everywhere else is going to be generally quite rowdy in the first year. Not as much as in the past, but still to a large extent.

Even at Oxbridge several students get expelled each year due to poor behaviour. The idea of moving away from home and having freedom to spend and go out whenever you like gets to people's heads.
