Help with work experience

I would suggest you google engineering firms in Oxford and phone them up and speak to their workshop manager or chief engineer.
Have you tried that?
I work for a small company that has a small engineering workshop, and we are always interested in helping young people get interested in electronics and access work experience. We are in Surrey, so we can't help you directly but feel that there must be firms like ours all over the country - students just need to find us. We are registered with local schools offering work experience but are rarely approached. Perhaps your secondary school had a list of firms to try.

My firm is an amateur radio seller in Surrey. ML&S Martin Lynch & Sons. Do some research and reach out if you'd like some summer work experience.
