Leeds – Extra Documents Request?

I applied for an undergraduate course at the University of Leeds and received an email asking for a short (around 250 words) targeted statement and my university graduation certificate. I wasn’t asked to do an interview.

I’m an international student planning to study in the UK again, so I’m not too familiar with the admissions process here. Do all applicants get this kind of request, or does it mean my SOP wasn’t strong enough?

I’ve already received offers from two other universities, but this is the first time I’ve been asked for extra documents, so I’m not sure what to make of it. If anyone has any insights, I’d really appreciate it!

Hi @jayesuh, I believe they are asking you to write a motivation letter which include: Why you chose them as a university, reason for chosing the UK, why you want to study the exact course at the university of Leed and what your goal is after univeristy. This is very common when applying for universities.
You can research on how to write a motivational letter for University.

Did you tailor your SOP to that specific course or was it quite a generic statement that could apply to similar courses at different universities?
It sounds like they have some concerns that you might not understand or have looked into the detail about what the course involves at Leeds and so they’re asking you for something specific to that individual course.
