Advice from all 9s IGCSE

Hello, I’m currently in year 12 doing 4 as levels (math, further math, bio, cs). I got all 9s for my IGCSE grades, including:
Maths (Edexcel)
Biology (Edexcel)
Chemistry (Edexcel)
Physics (Edexcel)
English language (Edexcel)
English literature (Edexcel)
Business (Edexcel)
Geography (CIE)
Computer science (CIE)

If anyone needs subject-specific advice, feel free to ask! I’m happy to help with revision strategies, time management, and stress management.

I also found some useful revision resources that helped me get 9s (specifically English lit and bio) - let me know if you’d like me to share them.

please for english (especially lit more than lang) because it is probs the only subject that i don't have a nine in, everything else is probs alright but english is by far my worst subject, and especially lit. I do aqa tho, not igcse, my texts are macbeth, jekyll and hyde, inspector calls and power and conflict poetry but any resources you have or advice i would so strongly appreciate plzzzzzzz

Hii unfortunately I do Edexcel igcse for English but my general advice for revising the poems would be to annotate them again without looking at your notes and once you’re done, use a different colored pen to add the detail that you missed. This way, you’ll have a clearer understanding of the poem and come up with your own interpretation, which will be easier for you to write and elaborate on in the real exam.

Geography: I mainly used my school notes and bbc bitesize. I read through, highlighting any important info and annotating any extra bits of information in different colored pen. I would also read the mark scheme and write the keywords/concepts that will get me marks in bullet points into my book. As for the case study, I made a google doc containing all the statistics I have to memorise (compile all the stats in one place for easy revision).

English language: I read through the proses many times and used my schools notes (only those that I actually understand) + generated my own ideas to annotate. I would say it’s definitely worth it to ask your teacher to predict what text will come up based on past topics (my teacher correctly predicted Bhutan so I read that text as the last during revision and it came up).

Business: I purely rely on my school notes and search up some of the concept if I’m unsure.

I didn’t do any past papers but I looked through lots of mark schemes. But I do recommend do past papers for geography paper 2 (the practical skill paper).

For biology, I used these notes for revision Biology notes: all topics
What I did was I would read through revision resources like these and further annotate my existing school notes with a different colored pen (adding extra info on topics i didnt know/want to know more in depth).
Moreover, since bio is a very wordy and specific science, I recommend you looking through the mark scheme (instead of doing the actual past papers as it can take up a lot of time). This will help you to identify any keywords and patterns/how you can structure your answer in order to gain you marks. Hope this helps.

Omg this is so incredible, congrats on all your 9s and good luck for as levels! I am currently studying for my summer iGCSE exams, any advice on maths and business would be really appreciated! I read in one of your replies that you just relied on your school notes but please could you tell me your revision methods for the subject?

Hii thank you very much. For business, I relied on my school notes by reading through them then use a different colored pen to add further annotation (like adding new or extra info). I didn’t just passively read but I always took my time, pause, and think of any questions/confusion that I may have. Then I searched up what I was confused about (using google or ChatGPT) then add the annotations. For maths, I used defrostmath to practice on only my weak areas and then did lots of past papers as assigned by my teacher. Maths is mostly just practicing and getting familiar with all the topics.
Hope this helps.

For math, I used dr frost math and did lots of past papers. I have notes for English lit https://sites.google.com/view/stride101/igcse-revision-resource
As for the real exam, stress and pressure are normal but you have to know how to manage it. You can stress before and after the exam, but not during. I was also stressed but went in without thinking too much and did my best

Look through the mark schemes because they have a limit for content that they can ask for. Eventually you will get the gist of what keywords to include in your answer to gain marks.
