Nottingham offered criminology instead of law llb

I applied for nottingham law llb with ABB grades and am not contextual so it was my aspirational choice, but I got offered criminology instead. I do not want to do a conversion course and would like to go straight into law llb so will I be able to call up nottingham on results day for a place if I get higher grades? So far, I have Southampton and Cardiff law llb offers, waiting on warwick law + socio, and am thinking of firming southampton.

If you wanted to go to Nottingham you'd have to reject all your offers and enter clearing, and it's unlikely they would be in clearing for law. There's also no guarantee they'd accept you even if you did get higher grades. Probably better to just firm another uni.

They won’t have places on clearing for LLB, as the course is too competitive- they’ll have filled their course capacity with students who’ve already met their minimum entry grades.

If you want to go straight to LLB, I’d either accept your Cardiff offer, as it’s a Russell Group, which can be important in a field like law-

Or, put in your highest efforts for your A-Levels, and try and secure the best grades possible and re-apply( I personally wouldn’t however).

No ofc not don’t worry! Your grades are really good even if they don’t meet nottinghams requirements- if the rest of your application is strong there’s always a chance and you never know-

But if I’m talking what’s most likely to happen- you’d probably have to achieve their required grades in your exams and re- apply if you want Nottingham

- as they don’t accept people who they’ve already rejected, even if they score much higher than their predicted, as their course will already be full at this point.

Hi, It's too early to know which courses will or won't be in clearing yet or what the entry requirements will be - It's only when exam results are sent to the universities that they know who has achieved their offers and who hasn't.

We will be positing lots of useful information about clearing over the coming months but as a heads up it's always best to check on results day either via the UoN website or by giving us a call to ask if Law is in clearing.

I hope this helps!

Hey,
Firstly, congrats on your offers that’s a big achievement already!

About Southampton, it’s actually a really great place to study Law. It’s a Russell Group university, which means it’s recognised for strong teaching and research. The Law School at Southampton has a good reputation, and the course is very well structured to prepare you for a legal career, whether you want to go into practice straight after or take further training.

Another nice thing is that Southampton has really good career support for law students there are lots of workshops, networking events, and help with getting internships or vacation schemes. Being close to London also means you’re not too far from a lot of opportunities if you want to get experience with big firms.

Outside of study time, Southampton is a really nice place to live. It’s a student-friendly city with lots of parks, shops, cafes, and things going on. Plus, being near the coast is a bonus if you ever want a day out by the sea. The campus community is really welcoming too, so it’s easy to make friends and find a good balance between studying and enjoying your uni life.

It sounds like you’ve already got a smart plan, and whichever way it goes, you’re setting yourself up really well.
Good luck with everything and fingers crossed for results day!

Best wishes
Junfan
