Changing degrees UCAS

Hi,

I’ve already chosen Psychology as my firm UCAS choice, but i’ve changed my mind and want to do a primary education degree at the same uni. Would i be able to change degrees on the first day or on results day if i got the grades for the education degree?

Or is the only way to change through clearing?

Thanks!
Have you spoken to the Uni to discuss your options with them? If not I would encourage you to give them a call

If any of the Unis you have already applied to offer Teaching degrees, just phone those Unis to see if you can switch.

If you want to switch to an entirely different Uni its much more complicated.
You would need to contact Unis that are likely to still be accepting applications for that course. If they would accept your EXTRA application, you would need to dump all/any offers/choices you have, and then apply through Extra for that one choice. This is very risky - but not as risky as waiting for Clearing. These sort of courses are arely in Clearing because they require an interview.

BTW - 'Education' is not the same as as a QTS Primary Teaching degree. Make sure that you understand the difference. If you want to be a teacher the degree must have QTS in the title. If it doesnt, then its just ;about the theory of education' and wont qualify you as a teacher.

HI Aminah!

If it is the same university you are wanting to study at, I would recommend contacting their admissions team as sometimes if there are spaces, they can change this internally without having to go through UCAS!

If it isn't the same university, you may have to go through UCAS Extra or clearing. You can release yourself into Extra but this would mean you would loose any existing offers! If this is your situation, I'd recommend contacting the university first to make sure they still have spaces and to make sure you meet the entry requirements.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Rebecca, I will definitely contact my uni soon and ask if there are any places left instead of leaving it till clearing.
