Student Finance for Mature Student following Previous Study at Level 4

Hi there,

I previously completed an HNC in Construction & The Built Environment which was funded by my employer. I believe this is a Level 4 Qualification.

My question relates to the potential of now doing an undergraduate degree in Theology.

I can't seem to find any definitive answers regarding student finance. How will my student finance be affected, having previously done a Level 4 qualification?

Am I still able to get the full funding for the degree?

Also, how does this work if I'm doing part-time over 6 years, or full-time over 3 years? (I haven't decided which route to take yet)

It would be great to be able to discuss this over the phone, however, there doesn't seem to be any possibility of that, so if there is a number or advice line that I could call to discuss this query with, then that would be much appreciated too.

Many thanks,

Henry

Just to also say we do have a phone line you can call us on 0300 100 0607 or you can use the live chat in your account.

If you have achieved a lower level qualification you can receive funding to study a higher level qualification we just don't fund courses at the same equivalent as what you currently hold. Thanks, Jason

I’ll just add that this HNC was taken at an FE College establishment, and not a university, I’m not sure if that has any bearing.

Hi Jason,

I can’t seem to get through to anyone on that number, do you know which options I would need to press, I also can’t seem to find a live chat option online?

Ok, so as I’d be going for a degree which is higher level than the HNC, I’d get the full funding?

Does this change depending on whether I go full time or part time?

Any option will put you through to an adviser on the phone. The live chat pops up on the right hand side of the page when an adviser is available.

I would always advise applying as the assessors will review and determine this but based on your previous study if you've only had the one year of previous study at level 4 you should be eligible for this. Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason,

I did my HNC as part time over two years, does this affect it?

Thanks?

It may affect it then if it was more than one year. But if it does it would just affect year 1. I would advise applying though for the new course. The assessors will review and determine this for you. Thanks, Jason
