What A level subjects are you taking?
What is your GCSE Maths grade?

(and what do you mean by 'best'?)

What are the best science courses to study in university?

Hi! @astonish_22 🙂
This will depend entirely on what you enjoy and of course, you will need to meet entry requirements.
What subjects are you currently studying now? Do you enjoy one more than the other? Do you prefer a single science subject or multiple?
I would highly recommend pursuing a subject you are passionate as this will make your academic journey a lot more easier!
For example, I really enjoyed A level biology and chemistry and I wanted to do both at university so currently I'm studying natural sciences which allows me to do this.
If you have an idea of what subjects you like and want to pursue at university, you can then start looking up courses and having a look at the modules offered. This can help you decide which course is right for you.
I hope this helps! 🙂 Let me know if you have any questions!
Fatma.

That's great! Can you see yourself studying both at university? Or do you prefer one over the other?

If you like both (and don't mind quite a bit of chemistry) you could have a look at Biochemistry courses.
If you think you'd prefer to do mainly biology with some chemistry, you could have a look at biological sciences, microbiology etc... (essentially any kind of biology based course)
If you'd prefer more chemistry, you can have a look at just pure chemistry courses and see if they allow you to take occasional biology related modules. For example, the chemistry course at UEA allows you to take medicinal chemistry as a module.

Again, it will all depend on your preferred subjects and most of the of the courses above will have overlaps. I'd recommend just browsing university websites and seeing if any courses catch your eye.
I hope this helps! 🙂 Let me know if you have any questions!

What are the best science courses to study in university?

Hi @astonish_22,

My name's Anna and I study at ARU!

I understand you're lookign for a course in biology and chemistry. Have you ever consider a path in Biomedical science maybe?🤓

It's a super nice course, focused on the human body. You'd be able to learn about molecular, organ and system levels, and especially (this is fun) how to investigate diseases!

Let me give you a little bit more info on it. It is possible to start either in January or in September; the course is based in beautiful Cambridge and it is also possible to choose a 4 year course with foundation year or placement year too!!

Also, if you're still exploring degree options, check out the UCAS course finder: https://digital.ucas.com/coursedisplay/results/courses!

Going back to our course, I'dd like to leave you the link to the webpage, so that you can take a look if you want: https://www.aru.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/biomedical-science!👨*🔬

Hope this helps!

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!

I'm sure you'll find the course for you!

Anna🥰

Hi @astonish_22!

My name is Chloe. I'm also from ARU but I study Medical Science. A slightly different course based on our Chelmsford Campus.

Have a look at the course here: Medical Science degree - BSc (Hons), CertHE - ARU

As a final year, I can reflect on the variety of knowledge the course provides. I see you're in to biology and Chemistry. This course offers a biochemistry module in the second year which is tough but incredibly interesting. The course also builds on knowledge of the human body with learning Human Anatomy in your first year understanding the key mechanisms of the different body systems and then applying that knowledge in Applied Pathophysiology. Pharmacology modules also provide an outlet for your interest in chemistry. There are also modules that tie in the wider context of science with Epidemiology, specialist case studies and contemporary issues. If you have any specific questions please let me know!

This course provides many job opportunities including graduate medicine, Physician associate, Research and development roles, Biotechnology, Clinical Trials, Medical Communications and many more options!

Going to university as a great way to enhance your knowledge in a subject you are passionate about so I urge you to explore your options and learn more about this course in the process!

I hope that helps. Please ask me if you have any more questions!

Best of luck,

Chloe
