Uni withdrawal

Hello, I widthrew from university at the beginning of October and the uni I went to had a 4 week free trial, if you widthrew before 4 weeks you don't have to pay. Before I widthrew sfe paid the uni for the usual date so there is a balance in my sfe account. It's been more than 5 months now and the balance still hasn't cleared.

I am mainly worried because I emailed the uni (around 1.5 months later) asking when the balance will be cleared and they said there was a issue because they received a payment from sfe and they need to reverse it. From this email I got the idea that if I hadn't emailed they never would have reversed the payment.

I emailed my university again after another few months and they said they have no control over when the payments will be clawed back and sfe says they can not confirm the amount of time it takes before the uni returns the funds to them.

It's almost been 6 months from when I widthrew and I don't know when my balance will be cleared if at all. Is there any advice on what to do or does this usually take a long time. It's for a loan for the first quarter that needs to be cleared so around 2300.

I have messaged student finance repayment to ask to message my university to speed up this process as when I email they either don't respond or take weeks. If there are any sfe members can you please help

When i message student finance repayment twitter they said to contact student finance but I can't find their contact details so they will not be helping contacting my university. I feel this would be so easily fixed if someone from student finance could contact my university about this.

Hi there,

You'd need to speak to the repayments team. We're not trained in that department so are unable to assist.
If you prefer to communicate to them via chat then you can message them on Twitter https://twitter.com/messages/compose?recipient_id=806835849916719104 or Facebook http://m.me/SLCRepayment - alternatively they are also available on the phone, their number is 0300 100 0611. I've listed their contact details below as well: https://www.gov.uk/contact-student-loans-company
Thanks, Jason

If you've been paid and the university have also been paid by us then this would be loan that you need to repay. If we've paid the university and they don't require the fees then they'd need to refund us those fees. We are unable to contact them directly. So if the fees are still showing as paid then they'd need to rectify that by refunding them back to us. Thanks, Jason

This was their email to me. Could you please help me understand what this means.

This payment will be clawed back by Student Finance (Student Loans) in due course, it happens automatically, and we have no bearing over this.

Your account with Student Finance will reflect the fact that you withdrew from the university in October.

Kind regards,

Kind regards,

If the university have sent us over a withdrawal and advised they don't require fees on this then the fees would be refunded back to us. We can't access accounts on this to check but from what you've advised it's unlikely they've done that. I would get you either to contact us via the live chat account or speak to the university again for confirmation of this. Thanks, Jason

I used the live chat a few days ago and they said the following which is why I've tried to contact someone from sfe. Can someone from sfe help? Or is my only choice to contact my university again.

Hi,

Thanks for providing those details. I now have access to your account.
There's still a loan balance of £2352.60, valid until the end of today. This will suggest that the university is yet to return the tuition fees.
You can contact your former university and/or Student Finance England (SFE) regarding the matter.

Thanks, Ade

Thanks for confirming and I'm sorry for this. You'd need to speak to the university and once the notify us and it's updated you'll receive a corrected entitlement letter showing the fees as 0 amount for the academic year. Thanks, Jason

Thank you, it's a bit frustrating contacting the university as they take so long to reply and the people accepting the calls can not help. This Is why I wanted someone from sfe to contact the university. Thank you for your time.
