Dundee university nursing interview advice!

Hi, I have been invited for an online group interview for mental health nursing (merged with adult nursing applicants) i would now be considered as a mature student and haven’t done anything like this in a long time! Looking to see if anyone who has recently done an interview here could give me some advice/tips of what may be asked so I can prepare..any help would be hugely appreciated!

Hi OP,

Presumably the university have sent you some info to help you prep and what to expect? Things like the format of the interview, presentations etc? Healthcare course recruitment in general is values based, so look at the NHS 6c's & the NMC ethical standards for nurses and structure your answers / anecdotes around them. Think about using the STAR method for answering questions (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to keep your answers concise and to the point. Keep in mind that interviewers are looking for answers that demonstrate that your own values align with those of the profession, that you understand what the job and the training entails (the good and the bad), they're also looking for good communication skills (essential in nursing). Know your personal statement and be prepared to answer questions about it (revise anything you've talked about or over-egged your skills or knowledge in). Have a look at the nursing times or similar to see what's happening in mental health nursing at the moment, it may well come up in your interview.

Best of luck 🙂

hi
Congratulations for getting a interview with Dundee university for nursing.

Did you receive any information within your interview email regarding on what the university want you to research and study for the interview.
If you did receive this then you have to follow the instructions on researching the things they are asking about in the message as this is what they will be basing their interview questions on.

Unfortunately nobody can give you any information regarding there interview as it's up to you to make sure you do your research and study of the required and given.

I'll give you some examples of possible questions but they might not ask these......

Read the NMC code of practice
Learn the 6 C's of nursing
NHS core values
What's happened currently within the NHS in the whole UK and not just Scotland ( good one is lack of staff ).
How good are you with communication skills and your technology skills.
How would you personally cope with stress while you're on shift 😞
How would cope with a bereavement while on shift especially if you was looking after that particular patient and stay professionally as a nurse ( you should be taught this as part of your nursing training).

Read over your personal statement incase you get asked anything on it 😉

And have some questions to ask the interviewer at the end.

I just received a conditional offer today subject to attending the access summer school and getting CCC in three modules! I’m assuming this is due to me being out of any sort of education etc for a long time now, but it doesn’t state what the summer school will entail, as in what the modules are or what you’ll be doing, any idea anyone?
