Is it hard to get into Woodhouse College?

I’m currently in Year 11 and my top choice is woodhouse college , i applied for chemistry, biology and history with all 8’s in those subjects. Is there a chance i get in (a conditional offer)? I’m wondering what it’s like too, for anyone who is there or has been in the past

I'm wondering the same rn :/

I'm applying for Politics, Econ, History and Maths; I have a 9 in History and an AS level in Politics (A/A) - (originally said maths, I have no idea why 😭😭)

But I have a 7 in Maths, which worries me...

Yes.

I was predicted 7s in all of my subjects and was waitlisted, but I ended up getting mostly 8s and 9s, with my lowest being two 7s in subjects I wasn't going to pick for A-levels anyways. I was lucky enough to get off the waitlist and get enrolled a few days after the initial induction. Even if you do get waitlisted, don't fret - quite a few people do leave because they decide Woodhouse isn't for them, so I'm sure a space would open up for you, but with those predicted grades you'll most likely get a conditional offer.

I'm 7 months in and I'll be honest, it's quite humbling. There's pretty thorough testing in all subjects and they really value independent study. Everybody is in the same boat though, and as the year progresses, you'll get used to the workload and feeling insecure about your grades (lol) but this is probably the reason why they have such a high student turnout for unis like Oxford and Cambridge. There's a lot of support at the school though, both wellbeing-wise and academically.

Despite that though, I really do recommend the school. It's a great environment, and it's pretty difficult to not make friends - good luck in your GCSEs, I'm sure you'll do amazing!!

Hi.

I'm applying for History, Politics, Mathematics and Economics.

I have a 9 in History, and an early AS in Politics. Yet, because I have a 7 in Maths, am I likely to be rejected?

Ik for the real thing I'll get an 8 or above (my prediction is an 8), but currently, well... my mock grade is a 7.

Thank you so much for the help!

I’ve spoken to a few students who go there and they absolutely the environment so i’m excited if i get a conditional offer. My average score is 7.5 which is basically the requirement to take four A-Levels so i think that’s good too. I’m just worried because i know how competitive STEM subjects are. Glad to see you’re enjoying it though!

They mostly look at your predicted grades - I was predicted all 7s and was waitlisted, but a friend of mine was predicted all 9s and she was also waitlisted, and eventually ended up going into another school. It also depends on the subjects you do, STEM subjects are going to be competitive but I think you have a good chance of getting in. Even if you don't and you get waitlisted, there's still a chance you can get in after results day, because some people are going to reject their offers and some won't get the grades they required to get in. Personally, I was waitlisted but I was lucky enough to get in.

Wishing you luck though, hope you get an offer and I'm sure you'll do great in your exams! Don't fret!!

No worries! Yeah, at the end of the day it's up to how well you do in your GCSEs, everything else is out of your control so you shouldn't worry about it. People drop subjects and leave the school all the time, I could count at least 10 people from all of my classes that have left Woodhouse and switched schools because it just wasn't for them. Spaces will always open up

Yup! hoping to, debating whether to switch history to psychology, talked to some history students and they don’t enjoy it all that much even though it was their favourite at gcse.

I've just done my GCSEs and I got 9999999988887, applying Politics (AS level in, A/A), History (9), Econ, and Maths (8). I'm on the waiting list. Do you think I have a chance of getting in?

(9 in Literature, 9 in Language, 9 in RS, 9 in Biology, 9 in History, 9 in Comp Sci, 9 in Citizenship, 8-8 in CombiSci, 8 in Physics, 8 in Mathematics, 7 in Physics; I took both Combi and Triple, sorry if thats confusing lmao)

Sorry ik this is a late reply but I'm kinda all-over the place and seeing as you go to WH, you prob. know about this process more than me... :/
