IR at KCL has been in clearing in recent years, it’ll likely be in clearing this year too but it depends on the course numbers

Happy to know I'm not the only applicant seeking IR at KCL for clearing😅. From what I gather from other threads, applicants are still waiting to recieve offers (universities have until the 14th of May to reply). I tried contacting their admissions team but they were just not responsive. Fingers cross for the summer🤞

They're sadly oversubscribed this year, IR won't be on clearing this year. Someone said they emailed KCL, and they got back to them and said it's oversubscribed and they're taking a 'gathered field' approach to assess applications, hence why it's taking longer to hear back from them.

Flip sake😅. It was one of the few IR degrees which I fell in love. Welp, another gap year for me. Maybe next year

Wait is this final, IR will not be in clearing at all?

I’d wait until results day as it’s quite unpredictable. A lot of people may decline their offers too

They look at all applicants and compare everyone’s grades in order to pick the highest and best grades and personal statement etc. I’m waiting for KCL IR and am praying they will let me in

Well just have to see. Good luck to everyone!

Perhaps because it has been in clearing, it became oversubscribed due to people thinking it would be easier to get into. They could also be taking a different approach to offers this year to prevent the course from going into clearing?

All of us waiting, what are your predicted? What other offers do you have?

Did you not apply for it?

I’m a gap year and I applied for Law. I have offers from York and Birmingham and received rejections from Oxford and LSE. I’m still waiting on Warwick. Both of the courses at the unis I received offers from a centred on international law (York = International Human Rights Law, Birmingham = International Law and Globalisation).
Though I still like these courses and still want to pursue a career as a solicitor, doing particular work experiences, taster lectures etc. have sparked my interest towards an International Relations degree instead. This may sound silly, but I wasn’t aware that you could enroll into as a degree separate from Politics (context: I did A-Level Politics, really enjoyed the course and did well in my exams but could not see myself pursuing beyond sixth form).
After speaking to a mentor, I’ve realised that IR is more suited to my interests (e.g. the type of law I want to practice, the opportunities I seek out). My personal statement also emphasises this interest since it focuses on relations between nations as well as the influence of international law and bodies.
