Business books to read for UCAs application

I have been unable to get much work experience in business so am looking into reading a book or two instead to show my interest. I am still unsure what exact business degree I want to do, whether it be business and marketing or business and economics so I am open to any suggestions relating to business. I want to get into a Russell group uni so if there are any other suggestions on how to elevate my personal statement please let me know!

Hi fellow business student here I study business management with HR at a non Russell group uni but I would suggest you could link any work experience to show how it links to business for example I hosted prom in my high school so that’s what I spoke about and I also spoke about how I had a job at a store and linked it to skills I would require so you could talk about that idk if this is helpful but good luck !

I achieved 5/5 offer in 2023 from:

University of Leeds
University of Exeter
University of York
Queen Mary University London
Aston University, Birmingham

I applied for Business Management and included 2 books in my personal statement:

The Innovator’s Dilemma - Clayton Christensen

Good Strategy, Bad Strategy - Richard Rumelt

Don’t use a basic book, show you’ve done your research.

I was interested specifically in the relationship between business and society, and business strategies in general.

For experience I included:

Working at McDonald’s

Insurance work experience, but focused on a Dragon’s Den presentation I did during the experience linking it to different management styles

Tutoring

CIMA Business Game
