National Insurance Number

Hello,

I'm applying for student finance, but its saying that my NI number is already in their system, I have never applied before though. I'm trying to follow the instructions but its really confusing because its asking for proof of my NI number but the option to upload it digitally is blurred out. So im thinking I should post my NI number, but I don't have an "original copy" of it. Can I just print it out and post it off of the GOV site, or does the letter need to be direct from HMRC?

Many thanks for the responses

Hi Legramos, if you require to post a clear copy of your National Insurance number, we will issue you a letter to request one of the following:

National Insurance Card
Payslip
P60
Tax Credit Award Notice or any other official document which shows your National Insurance Number

This can be posted to:

Student Finance England
Team 6

Thanks, Stephen

Hi, thanks for the response

I have printed out my NI number letter from the gov website. Is a printed copy fine, or does it need to be a letter sent direct to me via post? Just unsure about what counts as "original"

Hi there,

A printed copy is fine, yes.

Just to check, were you able to submit your application okay? When you login, is it showing as approved?

Thanks, Graeme

Okay, that's no problem - feel free to send us that evidence as soon as you can.

It might not be necessary because we check your National Insurance Number with the DWP directly anyway, so we'll likely get it from them. But it's still worth providing the evidence just in case.

Thanks, Graeme
