Engineering at kcl, qm or southampton

Im predicted A*AA
My unis are
UCL-Mech eng(Rejected)
Kings- Electrical engineering(Waiting)
Queen mary london-Mech eng with industrial experience(received offer)
southampton-Mech eng(received)
brunel-Mech eng with placement(received)

Now idk if I should pic either Southampton, kcl or qm. Southampton is better but id rather stay at London so either EE at kcl or qm. The thing is both of them are not the best in terms of ranking and I'm not hearing many great things about them either. So what do you think I should do? This assumes I receive the offer from Kcl as their entry req are AAA.

You say "Southampton is better". You also say "id rather stay at London". You've therefore decided that location (i.e. London) has a higher weighting in your pros and cons list than whatever made you conclude that Southampton was better. So we can cross Southampton off.

So you're then choosing between KCL, QMUL and Brunel. KCL would be the natural choice, I'd have thought (assuming they make you an offer).

However, that's for a different course that you've applied for elsewhere. Why is that? Is your preferred course really Mechanical Engineering? If so, we should probably cross KCL off the list too.

Between QMUL and Brunel, I'd probably go with QMUL. Have you visited both? Which did you prefer?

kcl id either go for general or ee, but their general engineering is not great either. I haven't visited either qmul or brunel. EE is like the 2nd choice as I do prefer mechanical. I just need to find and weigh out the pros and cons of qmul and brunel.
Thanks for your help.

Hey,
It sounds like you’ve been thinking really carefully about your options, which is great.

I just wanted to say that Southampton is a really strong choice, especially for courses like Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It’s a Russell Group university with a great reputation for engineering and technology, and the teaching and research are both very well respected. They also have amazing facilities and strong links with industry, which can really help when it comes to placements and jobs later on.

Also, even though Southampton isn’t in London, it’s only about an hour away by train, so you can still easily visit whenever you want a change of scene. Outside of studies, Southampton has a really nice campus vibe, loads of green spaces, and is close to the coast, which can be a great way to relax outside of lectures.

One thing to remember too is that your university experience and the degree you graduate with are really important for your future, not just the location. It’s a good idea to look carefully at the modules and course content if the subjects and projects really interest you, it’ll make a huge difference to how much you enjoy your time there.

Whatever you decide, you’re already doing amazingly by thinking through everything properly. Wishing you all the best with your decision!

Best wishes
Junfan
