Can your school force you to drop an A level subject in year 13?

Can my school force me to drop an A level subject in year 13? With only 2 A-levels is it really possible to get into a Russel university like Manchester university even if I achieve 2 grade As and plan to study 3 completely new A levels in one gap year so that it makes up for the “sitting in one stand” or would this still classify as “resitting” and not sitting in one stand” because I’m completing the a level course over 3 years , and I would be disadvantaged? Doing 3 more a levels in one year is an attempt to prove myself capable of doing so because I know most unis need 3 a levels to be achieved in one sitting, if I can do this in my gap year would it still affect my application considering I only competed two in my first two years?

I’ve never heard of a school (well I’ve only heard of one school doing this) forcing you to drop an A-level when you only have 3.

That wouldn’t be a wise idea on the school’s part unless you have extenuating circumstances. I would just stick to 3 A-levels.

If they make you drop an a level couldnt you self-study it until the exam and then take it elsewhere as a private candidate? (Talking worse case scenario if this were to happen…)

I had no choice there’s two months left until a levels and the school forced me off the course now, I did ask for them to make me mock exams for each course a month later to prove I’m capable of achieving the grades I need but they wouldn’t allow me

I’ve already been forced off the course, but that would also disqualify my exam and I don’t think I can reapply privately now two months before the exam
