Ulster University PhD Applications 2025

Has anyone applied for and been interviewed for a PhD at Ulster University in Coleraine? The interviewers said we would know by April 14th, 2025. However, I'd like to know if anyone has received confirmation yet, as the waiting is doing my head in...

Hi, how was your experience? I gave on 12th and they told me i wont hear back before 14th April. But i had quite mixed feelings when it come to the interview experience.

I also had quite mixed feelings when it came to the interview experience, I feel like I expected a lot of the interview and then I panicked when answering the questions. How many places are there for the subject you applied for?

I applied for one psychology project but i dont know how many places are there. I felt that the questions were below the expected notions and interviewers were in hurry to finish it. I didn’t observe any enthusiasm or interest from the interviewers from the start and they were rushing to get done with it. So it felt like i was talking to walls and even i tried to elaborate it they were giving a corner eye so i got confused alot. I am unsure what the results will be.

I felt the same! They told me at the beginning they'd be making some notes but I don't think they did which I think isn't a great sign. I feel like I didn't get to talk about what I actually had prepped during my interview prep either. Have you studied there before?

No, I haven’t studied there before. This is the first time I gave them the interview. Which subject did you apply for? Also, they told they will be making some notes but didn’t. One interviewer was even using phone during the interview. I didn’t even get a chance to talk about the things I prepared bcz it was rushed. I had very low feelings after the interview bcz i wasted my entire week prepping for it and didn’t even get a chance to show my actual potential.

I applied for biomedical science. One of mine looked completely bored and it was really off putting - I did know some of the people on the panel and I felt the exact same. Me too, I spent so long preparing for it, potential questions etc and it was nothing like how I expected which makes me sad! Have you applied anywhere else?

Yes, I have been applying to some other universities this year bcz of the increased competition in funding this year. I hope we both get some positive reply. What about you? Are you looking for other options now?

I haven't applied to any other university but now I'm thinking maybe I should have! Where else have you applied? I hope so, I hope it doesn't take too long either but they told me it could be May before I hear anything

Hi there, my interview was on the 12th of March. They told us we would hear on or before the 14th of April, which is 5 weeks from the interview.

Well, I sort of agree with you. But the anxiety that comes with it is so….

Do you think it will be an email or will they update it on the portal?

I think email bcz portal is same as usual
