By work with animals do you mean doing veterinary course or something like Zoology for example?

Also what GCSE subjects does your school offer?

I’d would recommend doing science but besides that, what GCSE subjects do you think that you’ll enjoy the most from that list?

Maths as in further maths from that list?
The only GCSEs anyone in the future will specifically care about in general are going to be the ones required by all schools as part of the national curriculum. Beyond that normally they will only care about what overall grades you get, generally.

There may be a specific exception for particular vocational roles which might expect specific vocational qualifications that might be available at level 2 as well as level 3 (although I imagine usually they'd expect a level 3 qualification) e.g. in childcare, animal management/grooming/etc, automotive repair or similar.

Wanting to work with animals is a very general statement and there's a lot of ways to work with animals, but realistically none of your GCSE choices are going to limit any of those options at this time. You may find if you want to go in certain routes (e.g. vet med) you need certain A-levels, but that will come later and your GCSE choices aren't going to make a difference (although your grades may well make a difference!).

If OP wants to do vet med then they’ll likely need to do GCSE science so that they can do the relevant science A-levels at A-level (unless I’m mistaken here) but agreed otherwise.

The best GCSEs would therefore be taking GCSE English language and Maths (must), then look at what subjects your school requires you to do then see what subjects you like/enjoy.

Science is a "core" subject in the national curriculum at GCSE level and thus is compulsory, hence falls under the category "...GCSEs ...required by all schools as part of the national curriculum" I indicated

I see, I’ve seen some schools let you drop GCSE science (as in not make you do all three sciences and you’re able do only do two for example) or some people who are home schooled might choose to not do all GCSE science subjects that’s why I said that.

In my school everyone did combined science as "triple science" wasn't offered anyway :dontknow:

Combined science is sufficient background for the A-levels in terms of the syllabuses set by the exam boards, although some schools may teach them aligned to the triple science content.

It's not necessarily to do all three separate science subjects, although I'd suggest doing combined science if not rather than 2/3 sciences.

Yeah that’s pretty much what happened for me too but I’ve seen people on TSR say that they do separate science with some being allowed to drop certain science subjects as a result e.g not do biology for example even if that’s probably not common. Agreed though.
