Is the following part-time master’s course eligible for the Postgraduate Master’s Loan, provided I meet all the other general personal criteria?

Hi, unfortunately we are unable to access links, can you please provide the following:
How many years is the course in total?
What is your current status within the UK?
How old are you?
What is the highest qualification you currently hold?
Thank you, Stephen.

2-year part-time Master's of Studies (MSt)

British citizen with British passport, lived in the UK for the past 7+ years

Aged between 30-40

Highest qualification is a bachelor's degree

Please understand that my enquiry is focused on the programme's eligibility for the Postgraduate Master’s Loan, not my personal circumstances

Reason I'm asking is that the university has mentioned this course may not be on the list of approved master's programmes on SLC's database and hence not eligible for the Postgraduate Master’s Loan

I have already perused the Master's Loan government website, and I am unable to find the "MSt (Master's of Studies)" degree among the examples of eligible postgraduate master’s qualifications

Thanks

Hi there,

Yes, this course is showing on our database as being eligible for funding from us. On our system it shows as 'MSt in International Relations'.

Does the course begin this September or later?

Thanks, Graeme

Hello Graeme, it’s for the course beginning in September 2025 lasting until 2027. Thank you for confirming

Based on the information your colleague Stephen has obtained from me in my previous reply, am I eligible to apply for the postgraduate master’s loan?

Yes, that's right - this all sounds fine.

Just to let you know, the 25/26 applications are expected to open in the next month or so. When the applications open you can then apply online.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Ash,

These are not live yet and they will open up later in the spring. We don't have a confirmed date yet but do monitor the gov.uk website (or our social media platforms) as there will be an announcement when they are available. Thanks, Jason
