Hi, good luck, all universities you are applying for are very competitive. I recognised you did not apply for UCL. For PPE the best universities in the world are Oxford, lse, UCL

Hello,

I’m a recent graduate of KCL in History and Political Economy. With your grades you’ll certainly get in. If you were to get all offers I’d say to make KCL your insurance behind Oxford too. I cannot speak highly enough of KCL especially the department of political economy. The teaching standards, facilities etc is amazing and I’d loved it and wish I studied more. The university has great recognition and prestige with a good balance of competition, academics and social life. Plus London factor. From what I’ve heard and seen of other uni’s such as LSE and Imperial I think KCL has the best work/social balance between so would recommend. Especially as LSE will want similar to Oxford and if you miss out on grades, they will likely both have similar outcomes. Also the LSE brand and prestige is amazing and hard to argue with when it comes to prospects and academics but I don’t believe KCL is too far behind, especially in politics, economics and the whole department of political economy. This is as someone who studied at KCL and had a masters offer from LSE in Political Science.

Back to your initial question, your applications and grades are great and realistically have a good chance at all those uni’s as 3A*s1A is well above requirements. Your only issue might be is if LSE ask for A* Maths and you have an A but they may be lenient on that as it’s a one grade difference and rest is outstanding. I know they have been picky in the past with certain grades and subjects but again I was part of the cohort around covid so most uni’s were given the situation. You have more than enough for offers by grade, I’d assume your PS would be of good standard too so you’ll be fine. Just Oxford maybe not as it’s so competitive that PS isn’t enough sometimes, or you have the entry exams and then interview.

Hi there,

I know I'm coming to this a bit late but I just wanted to congratulate you on such a great profile! You've clearly done a lot of work to get to where you are.

I would say that as long as you meet the essential grade and subject requirements and you put in a strong personal statement then you have every chance of making a competitive application to all of these places, although of course there can be no guarantees.

Try to have a real think about which course seems to spark your interest more - which has modules you like the sound of? Are there any you think would help you towards any ideas you have about where you might want to be in future? What about options to do a placement year?

Also think about where they are! It sounds like you are leaning towards KCL? London is a big, bustling city full of life. However if you wanted somewhere a little bit smaller and cosier but still with plenty to do then perhaps Bath would be a good one to consider too!

What about the campuses? If you've had the chance to visit these places, which made you feel most at home? Where did you feel you could see yourself being happy studying and living?

I hope this helps a bit, and wishing you the best of luck with your next steps!
