Uni of Notts Accom

Hi guys, I've been accepted into the uni of Nottingham to study law so my lectures will take place on University Park Campus.

However, I'm stuck between choosing my accommodation, most nice accoms are near Jubliee Campus which is a shame but ntd. To clarify I would prefer a self-catered, private bathroom/shared kitchen and relatively upkept accom (ensuite) somewhat nearby. Distance-wise I wouldn't mind if it's a ~20+ min walk but anything more would be an issue (probs too lazy to commute that far). In terms of my budget just nothing over ~£8.7k otherwise I'll be homeless. Right now I'm deciding between these options:

1. Nottingham Two (Relatively upkept accom, a bit £££ but doable, accom benefits taken from Deakins, not sure about diversity as well, images of ensuite funky carpets r throwing me off + rumours of silverfish + distance to UPC is 39 mins)

2. Deakins Place (Pretty new accom, bit £££ but doable, good accom benefits still not sure about diversity, images of ensuite appears to be spacious, but distance to UPC is 41 mins)

3. St Peters Court (Decent accom, decent for £££, accom benefits is mid, diversity is good, images of ensuite is basic but distance to UPC is 44 mins)

4. Morriss House (New accom, steep for £££ but doable, good accom benefits, not sure about diversity, images of ensuite appear not to be much space)

I'm leaning towards Notts Two but distance-wise I'm looking at Morriss House although it is very expensive, any suggestions on what I should pick, or any other accoms you guys would recommend?

Good luck to those waiting for your offers.

I’m in the same boat as you, I’ve been offered chemical engineering on UPC and all the good accoms I’ve heard of are near jubilee campus which is just a pain because I don’t wanna be skipping lecture just out of pure laziness 😭

Hi @ChasingGrades123!

Congratulations on your offer to study Chem. Eng.!

If you decide to stay at Jubilee Campus, you may use the Hopper Bus 903 service to get to University Park (UP). The timetable is here: 903 Bus Timetable. It runs from 0800am and it takes around 15min to get there! The alternatives to this are of course either cycling or walking. In essence, having your accommodation at Jubilee is not a bad choice either 😆.

In terms of what option is the best out of the ones listed above, it is hard to say. Morris House is certainly the closest to UP. Nonetheless, the other three are very close to each other and there is a Lidl and a Tesco nearby, which is convenient. However, it is true that they are further away from UP. In my first year, I was living around that area and I had to plan ahead what I was going to do the next day in order to get to the lectures on time but, in general, it was fine!

All the best,
Abian.

Congrats on your offer, yeah that's the same issue I have as well, I don't mind commuting but what if there's just a day where I'm too lazy or tired to commute because of the distance, or if I have a gap between lectures and the distance back home isn't worth it so I'm stunlocked at the campus 🤣. Rn I'm thinking between SPC or Notts 2, the hopper bus doesn't seem bad to me. I hope I can make a good decision between the two.

Hi, the closest stop will be on Jubilee campus during the day which is about a 15 minute walk away, but there is a stop called Faraday road that is close by to St Peters Court accommodation for our evening library bus service which is a 5 minute walk away. You can look at the timetables and bus stop map here.

how so are the accoms near jubilee nice? I have been offered a place for accounting and finance for jubilee but I am looking to stay at uiniversity park as I have heard that the university park accoms are more active and sociable?

Hello!

The University Park (UP) halls are reportedly a really great experience for most students. This is because catered halls have a really nice social atmosphere to them. The walk/commute between campuses also is not really an issue particularly if you are staying somewhere close to the east side of University Park (UP).

In the case of Jubilee Campus, the accommodation options that are available are next to the lecture buildings, so it is convenient in that regard. The catered halls are a close knit community and you will meet a lots of different people by simply attending dinner in the Atrium or hanging around campus. One could argue that it is not as as lively as UP, but it is more compact and dense, so your overall experience will not be substantially different.

I hope it helps,
Abián.
