Cardiff Accommodation for Mechincal Engineering

Im starting mechanical engineering in September and looking at accommodation. The three accommodations near the engineering building either don’t have en-suites or are more expensive because they’re part catered. Is it worth staying further away for a nice cheaper place?

Hiya,

This is a good question, im guessing the ones you have looked at so far are: Senghennydd Hall, Senghennydd Court, University Houses (Village) and Ty Pont (privately run and managed, but still an option)?
These do range in their facilities, they are all great locations (particularly the first three), and that area, Cathays, is where most other students all live after first year, so nice to get used to the area. But equally you know yourself better, as longer walks to uni can sometimes deter students from attending, but if you have a good mindset and don't mind a slightly longer walk then you could go further, it is i guess what you are willing to sacrifice. Something else to consider is that other students will be walking places so you can join and it can be quite social, but equally other engineers may think similar to you and go to Senghennydd.
I know this isn't an exact answer, but hopefully some food for thought.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
