I am in year 9 but have year 4 level maths

So I am in yr9, but my maths level is far lower.
I really struggle with it in school, and I don't know what to do
All my teachers tell me that I just need to practice, but I just don't understand anything
Are there any ways that I can bring my maths level up by myself at home?
thanks

watching youtube videos is what generally helped me. You could use cognito and their website (although i didn't use that method), or use mathsgenie's website, corbettmaths etc. It's good to just learn the steps and intuition and then test it out. I also recommend when you're just getting into learning a concept, check your answers regularly. If you get one question wrong it's likely because of your method meaning you need to fix it.

Have you suddenly found the work difficult or did you struggle in previous years too?

The thing with maths is to get the foundations fixed first before moving on to more difficult topics, so your teachers should really have identified where you were struggling before and tried to identify what you should be doing to improve.

Practice is certainly essential, but it really benefits you when you've understood the concepts.

Uhh I guess I've always struggled with maths really
It just suddenly ( as I'm approaching GCSEs ect) became more prominent

It’s not too late the fix it, you likely need to learn the basics so I’d advise learning those first and then progressing to gcse content
